Black coffee – the benefits and … well there’s only benefits!

Its difficult to justify not drinking coffee. Surely everyone loves their morning brew? I love my coffee that’s for sure. Harvard has been conducting extensive studies on the positive effects of Coffee. I enjoyed reading through their research and I’ve done a comparative study on the modern approach to coffee drinking and the Ayurvedic approach […]

Tooth Health and Dental Wellness

I wanted to do an analytical report on how dental treatments have changed over time. Once upon a time (circa 5000BC) Ayurveda used essential oils to treat the teeth with exceptional success. Then came the age old practices of dental surgical correction. Fast forward to the 1950s, and modern medicine is re-inventing the same wheel […]

Sexy, Chiselled Abs

Surprisingly, getting chiselled abs is not rocket science. I’ve taken up a couple of points to analyze here. But overall I’m pretty confident that anyone who puts in the time and effort will achieve great looking 6-packs. Technically speaking: Although this is “body” effort, the existance of 6-packs does not mean that you’re at peak […]

Taichi brings the Zen back into life

We’ve been speaking a lot about Yoga and Pranayama and other ancient practices that result in a phenomenal health boost. It’s about time I add Tai Chi to the list. There’s likely very few martial arts practitioners who’re unaware of Tai Chi. It’s known as the “healing martial art” or even “meditation in motion”. Tai […]

Acupressure for your Liver and Kidneys

With the high volume of crap we breathe, drink and eat on a daily basis, everyone is suffering from an overload of toxins. Some people just don’t know it yet. This is often the result of eating an unhealthy diet. Environment and pollution can also lead to a buildup of harmful debris in your body. This usually impacts the liver and kidneys the most since these organs focus on removing toxins from the body.

When you tend to feel fatigued on a regular basis or find it difficult to lose weight, you may be dealing with a buildup of toxins. Many people turn to juice cleanses to help detox their body. While these solutions work, acupressure does not require you to make any changes to your diet or lifestyle. But, of course with diet improvement, it will certainly be helpful to far improve your health.[1]

Optimize functions

Here’s the 4 acupressure points for detoxifying your kidneys and liver. I use these every now and then; usually on a fortnightly basis.

Before applying pressure, you should prepare your body. Take a few deep breaths. Stand up and place your arms over your head. Breathe in and stretch backwards. Exhale as you lean forward while lowering your arms to the floor. This helps to get your blood and oxygen flowing, which may help with the detoxification process.

Drink a large amount of water before you begin these acupressure procedures – the toxins flushed out are finally removed in the form of urine – so you need to have an adequate amount of moisture to allow that to work.

1. Upper Sea of Qi

Upper Sea of Qi

This first point is located just below the center of your breastbone.

Applying pressure to this point should help clear chest congestion and get qi flowing freely through your lungs.

This should also help boost your immune system. This combination of benefits may help your kidneys and liver to begin flushing out toxins.

Kidney detox: going Raw

The kidney is one of the most important organs in the body’s ‘blood management’ department. It cleans your blood and regulates water levels in the body. It’s main job is removing toxins from the blood stream directly. Keeping this in mind, let’s see why we need to cleanse the kidneys – and what benefits this […]
